The International Students
This term the Globals were split up and put into class with real, live non-Americans! I had people in my classes from literally all over the world, from Romania to Egypt to Australia and back again. And the thing that stuck out most about them as a collective group is……they are LATE to everything. I’m not just talking about being five minutes late because your train took a little longer than expected. Some people consistently came to class a half hour to one hour later. Since our classes are four hours, we usually would get a half hour lunch break and the international students would be fifteen to twenty minutes late coming back from those breaks as well. Another thing is that people would leave class for the most random reasons. We had one girl get a phone call and interrupt class to tell the teacher her lost jewelry had been found and she had to go home, and another got a phone call only to announce she left her shower running and had to go home to turn it off. This is the one aspect that is much different from going to school in the States.
